College: A learning experience

This last week of school has certainly been interesting. I am learning what kinds of experiences during school that we can have, only if we allow it. We can sit in our seats and stare at the teacher, our eyes glazing over, or we can find a way to use it in our everyday lives.

I am 27 years old and a sophmore. There are many reasons why I have delayed my education; emotional difficulties, mission, and so forth. Through these experiences, I have come to learn and grow in ways I never thought possible.

I feel that there are ways to take advantage of the general requirements as well as electives and take classes taht would benefit us in more ways then one. Currently, I am taking a marriage class because one day I hope to get married. Through this class, I hope to learn to better communicate and decide on what areas and goals I need to work on.

I am also taking Personal Finance. This glass isn't a requirement but I felt that this would be a good class in order to learn to better manage my fiances and to establish goals. Both these classes will benefit me in the long run.

We don't need to take classes just for the sake of taking classes so that we can graduate and be done with it. I understand that many are on student loans so they have to be careful. But I also say, that to make the college experience more meaningful, we should take advantage of the many classes that are offered us.

Not only that we can also take advantage of the programs available as well. For instance, health quest is a great program to help us get into better shape.

Its really all about how you take it. Each of us decides how our college experience will be. Will this be a great year in which we will learn skills that will aide us in life? Or are we just going to put our heads on the desk and sleep.

I hope this year will be a great learning experience for all of us. :)

  1. I understand completely, there are so many classes that I just want to take to learn more and improve myself, and I wish they more of them filled requirements. Exploring types of physical fitness, as well learning how our minds work through psychology, there's just so much to learn that I think it'd be fun to just take a year of schooling to take whatever classes we want to explore! :)
